People Who Smile With Their Eyes, I Like Them

While the forced smile involves less gestures and is a little more rigid, the sincere and voluntary smile involves a lot more muscles. We can spot this by looking at people smiling straight in the eye
People who smile with their eyes, I like them

I like people who smile every day with their eyes, because their lives are reflected within them with optimism, energy and endurance. They are charismatic people who do not hesitate to practice that humility that welcomes, understands and respects.

We are sure that in your circle of friends and relatives there are people with this characteristic. They are the people who smile and convey their enthusiasm.

It is not easy to cultivate day after day this sure and mature optimism, which sees things in their correct reality, having assimilated the past, to fix new plans and ambitions on the horizon.

Living means walking with tranquility and hope. For this reason, people who smile with their eyes convey confidence and that simple wisdom that we should all learn from.

People who smile sincerely

The smile is the gesture with the greatest social and emotional power that people have at their disposal. It is a form of communication that does not need words. One thing that is interesting to remember is that people don’t just smile with their mouths.

  • The look and the eyes are always the reflection of our feelings, which is why our will, our affections and our enthusiasms are projected into them too.
  • We smile with the mouth, with the eyes and with the voice; to offer trust, there is no greater symbol than this simple, simple and sincere gesture, with which we transmit closeness to those around us.
  • There is no shortage of studies that claim that smiling improves our health. Such an elementary thing contains the reflection of our evolution and of that social brain that knows how to build bonds with its fellow men.

What can a smile help us with?

  • Smiles also help us in many ways:
    • They relieve stress.
    • They strengthen the immune system.
    • They regulate blood pressure.
    • They act as a natural pain reliever, as they increase our endorphins.

People who hide their suffering when they smile

Sometimes the smiles are not entirely sincere. This is not to say that they hide negative feelings, but that, in reality, some suffering or sadness is masked behind them. The smile, in this case, is an armor to show to the world, under which to protect our sufferings.

Duchenne’s smile

Perhaps you would like to know that a smile that is not entirely sincere or spontaneous is called the “Duchenne smile”. It is named in honor of the French doctor Guillaume Duchenne, who studied it and who revealed to us how it looks and how it forms on our face:

  • The Duchenne smile is a contraction of the major and minor zygomatic muscle of the mouth. It appears along with a twitching of the cheeks and produces wrinkles around the eyes.
  • On the other hand, the voluntary and sincere smile has its roots in the motor cortex, is activated in a conscious way and involves the involvement of many more muscles than the Duchenne smile, in which there is less gestures and a little more rigidity.

It is clear that not all smiles are sincere and that many seek deception or manipulation. Most of us make use of these less sincere (or Duchenne) smiles to “seem” normal, not to make visible this sadness that, at times, invades us.

The waves of the sea

For this reason, if you really need to understand if a smile is sincere or not,  just look at the eyes of the person who gives it to you. It is there that authentic emotions are reflected. A face can be cheerful and, in turn, hide a whole ocean of suffering in the eyes.

We should always take this into account.
