What are whiteflies

Indoor plants

Whiteflies are small insects, 3 millimeters in size, which attack the leaves of plants, insert their stings and suck their sap. The first signs that can be noticed are some leaves that first turn yellow, then dry up and finally fall off.

They are very harmful, as they reproduce at an exponential rate. There are at least four generations a year. By generation, we mean the time of the entire life cycle of the insect, from when it lays the egg until death.

It’s a summer plague, as it grows bigger and better in warm, humid environments. For this reason,  its danger increases inside houses or greenhouses, where the climate is perfect for its proliferation  and can reach eleven generations a year.
