How To Smooth Hair Naturally

If you want smoother hair without resorting to chemicals or straighteners, take note. These natural treatments nourish the hair and at the same time help tame frizzy locks.
How to smooth hair naturally

To be perfect for an evening, tidy at the office or to tame curly hair, many women decide to straighten their hair with chemical treatments or with the straightener.

The problem is that both techniques tend to ruin them. Today we explain how to straighten your hair naturally. Why not try?

Straight hair with no unwanted effects

Long straight hair is always in fashion, but not everyone is lucky enough to end up with perfect hair without resorting to some treatment.

The straight perm – which lasts a few months – gives good results in the medium term, but unfortunately the sad consequence is that it wears out the hair, making it difficult to manage.

Only by resorting to another straightening can one hope to have “presentable” hair. We therefore enter a kind of vicious circle.

Woman with long hair

Another popular option is the use of the plate. In this case, heat is used to detangle the hair and make it straight. As soon as your hair gets wet, however, you go back to where you started.

Many girls pass the straightener on their hair every morning, before going to work or school or on the weekend to go out.

The consequences, once again, are split ends, burnt hair, out-of-control frizz.

Is it possible to straighten hair naturally?

If you don’t want to give in to methods that smooth your hair and ruin it at the same time, you have two options: leave it as it is and try to better define the waves or smooth it with natural products.

If you’re curious about the second alternative, take note of these recipes.

Coconut milk and lemon juice

Together they work as a conditioner, leaving the hair smooth and soft. Mix a cup of coconut milk (250ml) with the juice of one lemon.

Wash your hair with shampoo and use this solution when applying the conditioner. Let it act for a few minutes, then rinse well with warm water.

Repeat a couple of times a week to notice results.

Banana and milk

Bananas and milk

Bananas are a great source of nutrients, including vitamin B6, which is very beneficial for hair.

Thanks to its sugar content, moreover, the banana maintains the natural hydration of the hair fibers.

Milk, on the other hand, contains proteins and sugars that are useful for smoothing hair. The amount of the two ingredients depends on the length of your hair and how thick your hair is.

The important thing is that the banana is reduced to a puree, to which milk must be added to form a cream.

Apply to damp hair, leave on for an hour and a half  (until it dries), rinse and comb well.

Honey, oil and milk

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of honey (400 g)
  • ½ cup of olive oil (110 g)
  • ½ cup of milk (125 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil (20 ml)

Preparation:

  • Pour the honey, olive oil, milk and coconut oil into a bowl.
  • Mix well with the hand blender and cook over low heat.
  • Cook the mixture until it has thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Apply to the hair starting from the tips to the roots.
  • Put on a plastic cap and leave it on for three hours.
  • After this time, wash your hair using your usual shampoo and conditioner. Finally, rinse with warm water.

Milk, strawberries and honey

Milk and strawberries

In addition to smoothing the hair, this mask gives an intense strawberry scent.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk (250 ml)
  • ¼ cup of strawberries (50 g)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (50 g)

Preparation:

  • Wash the strawberries and cut them in half.
  • Put them in the blender along with the milk and honey. Mix well.
  • Apply to damp hair and leave for two hours.
  • Rinse, wash with shampoo and conditioner and comb well while the hair is still wet.

Eggs and olive oil

They both have very interesting properties for the hair. Egg proteins seal the hair cuticles and allow you to detangle them more easily.

The oil polishes and softens them. You simply have to mix two eggs with a drop of olive oil.

Apply the compress to the hair with a massage, leave it on for an hour and when it is dry, rinse with warm water. Let another hour pass; finally, wash your hair as usual.

Lemon and honey

Lemon and honey

Honey moisturizes and protects the hair. If you combine it with the properties of lemon, you get an excellent hair straightening mask.

Mix a tablespoon of honey (25 g) with half a tablespoon of lemon juice (5 ml), although the quantity of the two ingredients depends on the length and type of hair.

Apply to your hair, wrap your head with a warm towel and leave for three quarters of an hour. When finished, rinse and comb carefully.

Banana and papaya

A fresh and aromatic way to straighten your hair naturally. The proteins offered by these two fruits are extremely interesting.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 papaya
  • 1 tablespoon of honey (25 g)

Preparation:

  • Peel the banana and cut it into pieces.
  • Do the same with the papaya.
  • Put the fruit on a plate and add the spoonful of honey.
  • Mash everything with a fork, until you get a cream that you will apply on the hair and leave it to act for about an hour (or until it is completely dry).
  • You just have to wash your hair with warm water and brush it well.
